1 Oil pan and preheat on the large front burner. Set the burner to the Low setting.

2 Measure 1 ¼ cup flour into bowl with handle. Use mix of wholewheat and white flour.

3 Add 2 tablespoons sugar.

4 Add 2 teaspoons baking powder.

5 Add ¾ teaspoon salt. Put all the dry ingredient containers back into the cupboard.

6 Mix dry ingredients together with a whisk.

7 Break an egg into the shaker.

8 Add one cup milk to the shaker. There are measurements on the side of the shaker to use. If you run out of milk, substitute water.

9 Add ¼ cup oil to the shaker. Put all the wet ingredient containers back where they belong.

10 Put the two lid pieces tightly on the shaker. Hold your finger on the small lid and shake wet ingredients together.

11 Add the liquid mix to the dry mix.

12 Add water to the emptied shaker and shake. This will be used if the batter gets too thick. It also leaves the shaker easier to clean later.

13 Use the whisk to mix the wet and dry ingredients. Whisk until the batter is smooth. The batter should be the consistency of shampoo. To thin the batter, add a little of the water from the shaker.

14 Use a ladle to pour the pancakes. It is easier to flip small pancakes than it is large pancakes.

15 When bubbles have formed in the pancakes and there are slight wisps of steam rising from the edges, the pancakes are ready to flip.

16 After you have flipped, watch the pancakes because they take less time to cook on this side. Little wisps of steam come from the edges when they are ready.

17 Put the stacks of pancakes onto a big plate and cover with a clean cloth to keep them warm. Use a paper towel to respread the oil in the pan before you ladle in more batter. Don’t burn yourself!

When all the pancakes have been cooked, remember to turn off the burner.

18 Set the table with tasty toppings like :

syrup

brown sugar

sliced strawberries (wash the fruit first)

cooked fruit sauce

yoghurt

apple sauce
